A good starting point is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool as it will give you a good idea of the most popular keywords currently being used within your sector. Be careful not to believe the absolute traffic numbers though as these are the overall figures for all searches carried out which include the word or term that you are considering. As a rule on thumb, we find it is best to divide the Google result by three to give a more accurate indication of the precise term traffic. Assume that if you are first for this term that you will receive between 30 - 60% of that traffic (depending on your sector you may receive more). If you can justify a return based on a website conversion rate of 2 -5% of this traffic then you have a valid case to SEO for the term. As an example, term A has 20,000 searches reported in Google. Dividing this by three to give a more accurate indication for the exact term
