Google Measures Ad Speed

Google has now included Ad loading speed into its complex algorithm. This means several things from the website owners point of view. Firstly, Google are obviously fairly confident that their own Ads work well enough to perform within their own algorithmic criteria, and secondly, they might very well be thinking that some of their competitors ads might not load so fast.

If you have a site that is covered with Ads, especially if they are from different providers, it might very well be worth you taking a look here http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/docs/rules_intro.html in order to highlight any possible problems that you might have.

Google are encouraging use of a Page Speed tool that can be used with Mozilla Firefox to indicate youe page loading speed.

Many things will slow down the loading speed of your site, including bizarrely Google analytics which in our recent test added 0.4 sec per page to the average loading time. It is well worth taking the time to measure your page loads with and without Ad elements in order to highlight the effect that each block has.
